Corps de garde des Daules
The Corps de garde des Daules (named after the Pointe des Daules , a headland ) in Cancale , a French commune in the Ille-et-Vilaine department in Brittany , was established in the 17th century. The guard house has been on the list of architectural monuments in France as Monument historique since 1955 .
The quarry stone building was erected under Vauban and is the last of its kind on this stretch of coast of the Côte d'Émeraude . The guard house consists of a barrel-vaulted living room and a rectangular watchtower, which has an outside staircase.
