Corsock ( Scottish Gaelic Corsaig ) is a village in the Scottish Council Area Dumfries and Galloway or in the traditional county of Kirkcudbrightshire . It is located about twelve kilometers north of Castle Douglas and 22 km west of Dumfries on the right bank of the Urr Water . To the southwest is the Corsock Loch .
history
To the southeast of Corsock are the ruins of a medieval tower house . With Corsock House , a mansion was built near the village in the late 18th century . In 1839 the village received a church with the Corsock Chapel . The local elementary school was closed in 2003.

Corsock is located directly on the A712 . The trunk road connects Creebridge with Crocketford . The east-west connection A75 ( Stranraer - Gretna Green ) can be reached there.
