The Chamber of Deputies of Castile-La Mancha ( Spanish: Cortes de Castilla-La Mancha ) is the unicameral legislation of Castile-La Mancha , an autonomous community in Spain. The Cortes consist of 33 MPs.

    Electoral system

MEPs are elected for a four-year term according to a proportional system aimed at ensuring representation in the various territorial zones of Castile-La Mancha. The constituency is at the level of each province, with the following number of MPs assigned to the provinces from 2015: Albacete, 6; Ciudad Real, 8; Cuenca, 5; Guadalajara, 5; and Toledo, 9. According to Article 10 of the Statute of Autonomy, elections are called by the President of the Régimen Electoral General on the fourth Sunday of May every four years by the President of the Junta of the Communities. This is in contrast to the Autonomous Communities of the Basque Country, Catalonia, Galicia, Andalusia and the Valencian Community, where the President can call elections at any time.

    composition

Since the regional election of Castile-La Mancha in 2015, the Cortes of Castile-La Mancha have consisted of 16 MPs from the conservative People's Party, 15 from the social democratic PSOE and 2 from the left-wing Podemos party. The Cortes is located in the former Franciscan monastery in Toledo, the Convento de San Gil ("San Gil Building").
