Cory Morrow (born May 1, 1972 in Houston , Texas ) is an American singer of the Texas country scene.

biography

Cory Morrow was born in Houston, Texas in 1972 and began playing guitar at the age of 15. At that time he stylistically preferred hard rock before he later found country music . Corrow also began writing his own songs while in high school. He studied in Lubbock in the early 1990s before moving to Austin in 1993 . In college he also met the singer-songwriter Pat Green , with whom he had a long-lasting friendship. His first recording was the EP Texas Time Travelin in 1997 , in the same year his first album The Corry Morrow Band was released , which was released in February 2001 at the same time as his joint album with Pat Green, Songs We Wish We'd Written was republished. The collaboration was the commercial breakthrough for the singer, who had not previously appeared in the charts, and has remained his greatest chart success to this day: the album reached number 26 in the country charts .

Morrow remained very active in the years that followed, until his career took a decisive turn in 2005 when he was arrested by police for illicit possession of cocaine and drunk driving . Although the small amount of cocaine was just an administrative offense , his life changed that way. Morrow placed great emphasis on spirituality and met a woman who soon became his fiancée. In 2012 he released a live album - recorded at Billy Bob's Texas nightclub - which put him in a ranks with singers and bands such as Willie Nelson , Micky & the Motorcars and Pat Green. Today he is one of the most important performers on the Texas country scene.
