Patrick Graven "Pat" Green (born April 5, 1972 in San Antonio , Texas ) is an American singer of the Texas country scene.

Life

Pat Green was born on April 5, 1972 in San Antonio, the son of a stage actor. He spent his early years in Waco , Texas. In the 1990s, Green worked for his stepfather in the office for a while before he fired him in 1997. That, says Green today, was the decisive step in his professional music career. He finally started performing when he was 18.

In Texas he lived in Austin , Lubbock and Dallas, among others . Today he lives with his wife Kori, daughter Rainey and son Kellis in Fort Worth , Texas. He is a fan of the Texas Rangers , his song I Like Texas from 1995 is played in the stadium after the team's home wins.

Pat Green started his music career at a young age. After he released three rather neglected albums himself between 1995 and 2000, which he was only able to finance with the support of his parents and which, despite a collaboration with the music producer Lloyd Maines, could not place in the charts, he signed a contract with Universal in 2001 Music Group .

In 2001 Green released the album Three Days , which was an immediate success and was able to place in the top 10 of the country charts. Less than two years later, Green released Wave on Wave , which became its greatest success to date. With that album, Green made it into the top 10 of the Billboard 200 for the only time so far and also reached number 2 in the genre charts. The CD was also a great success in the long term and sold more than 500,000 copies, for which Green was awarded the gold record in February 2004 . The single of the same name became one of his biggest hits, reaching number 39 on the Billboard Hot 100 . The track was covered by Richard Palmer in 2005.

Although he could never quite repeat this success, in the following years he released several albums that also sold well. The CDs Cannonball and What I'm For also reached number 2 on the country charts. Today he is considered one of the most famous Texan country singers. With his new record company he opened up more and more to commercial pop music , which ultimately brought him very high sales figures. This rapprochement with the mainstream has also brought him criticism, even though he is in some cases certified to have remained quite independent.
