Coryphantha indensis is a species of plant in the genus Coryphantha from the cactus family(Cactaceae). The specific epithet indensis refers to the occurrence of the species near Indé in the Mexican state of Durango .

description

Coryphantha indensis grows individually. The flattened spherical to spherical shoots reach heights of up to 8 centimeters with diameters of 8 to 9 centimeters. The apex of the shoot is rounded to slightly depressed. The 8 to 10 millimeters long, firm, round warts have a narrow, shallow groove. The axillae are covered with white wool. The single blackish to gray central spine , which can often be absent, is sub-like, stiff, slightly curved downwards, not hooked and 1.6 to 1.7 centimeters long. The 16 to 19 gray, 1 to 1.2 cm long radial spines are needle-like, usually straight and thickened at their base.

The funnel-shaped, glossy lemon yellow flowers reach a diameter of 3.5 to 4 centimeters. The obovate, cloudy green, juicy fruits are 2 to 2.2 centimeters long and up to 1.2 centimeters in diameter.

Distribution and systematics

Coryphantha indensis is common in the Mexican state of Durango .

The first description by Lewis Bremer was published in 1977. Reto F. Dicht and Adrian D. Lüthy treated Coryphantha indensis 2001 as a synonym of Coryphantha pseudonickelsiae .

A nomenclature synonym is Coryphantha delaetiana var. Indensis (L. Bremer) hort. (no year, nom. invalid ICBN -Article 29.1).
