Cosmin Alin Popescu
Cosmin Alin Popescu (born March 19, 1974 in Babşa , Timiş County ) is a Romanian environmental scientist . He was elected Rector of the Agricultural and Veterinary University of the Banat (USABTM) in February 2016 and was confirmed in office by an overwhelming majority for another 4 years on January 17, 2020.
biography
After finishing school, Popescu attended the USABTM Faculty of Agriculture to study natural sciences with a specialization in environmental engineering (1988–1997). In 1999 he did an internship at the University of Rennes in France on the use of satellites in agricultural crop technology to deepen his specialist knowledge . This was followed by further qualifications in environmental technology and cadastral management at the West University of Timisoara with a doctorate in engineering. and employment with the National Union of Realtors in Timisoara. After returning to the USABTM in the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences to the Chair of Geodesy and Cadastre and as a visiting professor at the Polytechnic University of Timișoara . In February 2016, Cosmin A. Popescu was elected Rector of the USABTM for four years. By virtue of his office, he is also chairman of the German-Romanian training center for agriculture in Voiteg .
