Court Tomb by Tonadooravaun
The Court Tomb of Tonadooravaun ( Irish Tóin an Dúrabháin ) is located on a gentle northwest slope of the Tully Mountains, on the Renvyle Peninsula in Connemara in County Galway in Ireland . Court Tombs are among the megalithic chamber tombs ( English chambered tombs ) of the British Isles . With around 400 specimens, they are found almost exclusively in Ulster in the north of Ireland or in Northern Ireland .
The only partially preserved Court Tomb consists of a west-east oriented gallery, about 5.0 m long and 1.4 m wide, which consists of six supporting stones and is divided into two chambers by two lateral posts. Access to the east is characterized by two portal stones (residues of the court (not obtained engl. Court )). There is an offset fall in the west. Three slabs, apparently offset cap stones, lean against the gallery walls.
About 1.0 km to the east are the Wedge Tomb of Ardnagreevagh and the Portal Tomb of Cloonlooaun .
