Covas is a place and a former municipality ( freguesia ) in northern Portugal .
Covas is part of the Vila Verde county in the Braga district . The community had an area of 3.5 km² and 399 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).
On September 29, 2013, the municipalities of Covas, Penascais , Valões , Codeceda and Atães were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias do Vade .
