Crautzach

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Crautzach (also Creutz Book ) is a deserted village in the district of hostage Winder hamlet Grafe Neuses in the Lower Franconian district of Kitzingen . The village was mentioned as abandoned as early as the 15th century. Climate changes since 1450 were probably decisive for leaving the settlement.

Geographical location

The identification of the former settlement is proving difficult today. The place was probably located in the area of today's Geiselwinder district of Gräfenneuses, but this location is not definitively established either. The location Description "uffm Creutzenberg", ie on the Creutzenberg that appears in a document about the deserted village, can not with a still existing hall able to be reconciled in the field of Grafe Neuses.

history

The village first appeared in the sources in the stand books of the Würzburger Hochstift . At that time it was already desolate. In 1457, among other places, "item was a tithes to the Crautzach wustungen" mentioned. The sources about Crautzach were silent for over a hundred years. It was not until 1583 that a tithe description of Oberschwarzach also listed the desolations in the area. Among them was “Creutzbuchen uffm Creutzberg”.

The village was probably abandoned due to climatic changes. Between 1310 and 1350, as well as between 1430 and 1480, several extreme weather conditions have been proven for the Steigerwald , so that between 1433 and 1438 there was also a famine . Frequently, several rainy summers in a row caused the agricultural productivity of the agricultural areas to drop extremely. Villages were abandoned. In addition to Crautzach, this probably also affected the villages of Fuchsstatt and Oberwinkel .
