Crazy Cavan & The Rhythm Rockers was a British Teddy Boy - rock 'n' roll band around the singer Cavan Grogan.

history

Although rock 'n' roll had lost a lot of its popularity by the mid-1960s, Cavan Grogan, Lyndon Needs, Terry Walley and Gerald Bishop formed Screamin 'Count Dracula & the Vampires in 1964 in Newport , South Wales , which later turned into Renamed The Sundogs . This resulted in the formation of Crazy Cavan & the Rhythm Rockers in 1970, without a bishop, with the piano player Brian Thomas and the bass player Don Kinsella .

In 1973 the band released today's classic Teddy Boy Boogie on their own label . The first album " Crazy Rhythm " was released in 1976 on Charly Records . Her rock'n'roll style differed significantly from that of the 1950s, and the lyrics were very often about the British youth gangs, the Teddy Boys , so this style, which was also played by other bands in the United Kingdom , Called "Teddy Boy Rock'n'Roll".

In 1980, the group appeared in the musical documentary film Blue Suede Shoes alongside Bill Haley and Ray Campi . The musicians in Finland got a gold record for the album Still Crazy .

The Rhythm Rockers appeared almost entirely in their original line-up, only the bass player was changed twice. Don Kinsella was followed by Graham Price for a year, who returned to the band in 2004 after Steve Vincent left the band.

The band was active until the death of the singer Cavan Grogan in February 2020, gave regular concerts in Europe and was a guest at major festivals in Europe and overseas. Several appearances were already planned for 2020. The band gave their last concert on January 18, 2020 at the Rockers Reunion Party next to Matchbox . As in the previous four concerts, the sick Lyndon Needs was replaced by Cavan's son Joe on guitar.
