Crazy Elephant

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Crazy Elephant was a short-lived American bubblegum band that had their biggest hit in 1969 with Gimme Gimme Good Lovin ' .

Band history

The music producers Jerry Kasenetz and Jeff Katz from Super K Productions had put Crazy Elephant together from studio musicians; in the press they marketed the band as a group of Welsh miners. Lead singer was mostly Robert Spencer (formerly with the Cadillacs ); at There Is not No Umbopo took Kevin Godley (later of 10cc ) the lead vocals. A tour band has also been put together for promotional purposes.

In 1969 an album called Crazy Elephant was also released ; the participating musicians were:

  • Robert Spencer (vocals)
  • Kenny Cohen (flute, saxophone, vocals), who later with the Eagles , Santana , Rod Stewart and BB King occurred
  • Bob Avery (drums), later with The Music Explosion
  • Larry Laufer (keyboards, vocals)
  • Hal King (vocals)
  • Ronnie Bretone (bass)
