Crazy Sue is a computer game that was published in 1990 in issue 1 of the English Amiga magazine Amiga Fun (MC Publications). The game is a typical platformers Run game.

Game flow

The player controls the character, a little girl named Crazy Sue , using a joystick . The game world scrolls only horizontally and in some levels the scroll direction is fixed, so you always have to walk from left to right. There are various bonus objects that give additional properties. A jumping moon gives you the ability to jump particularly high and a lollipop allows you to fight monsters.

The main goal of the game is to reach the end of a level without dying or running out of time.

action

The history that you can find out in the title screen is very brief. Crazy Sue lives in the land of Ereanor , where an evil wizard, the Wizard of Doom , enslaves the population. According to a prophecy, only a little girl can defeat him and his role is taken as Crazy Sue, who goes to his castle during the game to fight him at the end.

Levels

There are 10 levels of increasing difficulty. In the first level, Crazy Sue leaves her house and runs into the forest, which extends to the end of level two and flows into a desert, which you cross in level three before you climb a mountain in level four. In the fifth level, Crazy Sue enters a petrified forest, in the sixth she crosses a gorge on a long bridge and finally reaches the castle in the seventh level. Up to this point the levels are completely linear, you start on the left and try to reach the end of the level on the right edge. The monsters all have predefined movement patterns, you only have to avoid them by skillful maneuvering and try not to land next to platforms and fall out of the level when jumping.

Levels eight and nine play in the castle and are more complex. There are many keys and doors with rooms behind and you first have to find your way down to the dungeons in level ten, where the boss is waiting.

Noteworthy

  • The publisher MC Publications, which sold the magazine Amiga Fun and published Crazy Sue there in issue 1, was later bought up by Computec and the game was published by them in 1991 on the first Amigo! -Diskette, a disk magazine, published in German-speaking countries. There was another publication as PD-Soft-2448 -Diskette, where the game was declared as a public domain game.
  • The developers of the game appear as Hironymus Jumpshoe and Thorin Oakenshield for programming and DJ Braincrack for graphics and sound, but there is no information on which people are really behind it.
  • An adaptation of the game for the C64 was published in issue 4/93 of the disk magazine Magic Disk 64 .
  • The publisher also commissioned a PC and Atari ST version, which was implemented by the Denker & Barile agency. The PC and Atari ST versions were delivered together on a 3.5 ″ floppy disk for both systems, but were ultimately replaced by a second port for the PC.

Crazy Sue Goes On is a 2D jump-'n'-run game that was published in 1992 on a diskette in the Amiga Fun magazine published by Computec . The game is the sequel to Crazy Sue. The player again takes on the role of the little girl named Crazy Sue and this time has to fight the wife of the evil Wizard of Doom , whom she defeated in the first part.

Game flow

The gameplay is almost identical to Crazy Sue's, but the levels got bigger and more complex. However, scrolling still only takes place in the horizontal direction. The only difference is in the level design and a few small things, so the player often has to return to places several times and climb around in large levels. There are also some time-limited bonus items that can only be activated at special temples. There was no such thing in the first game.

action

The plot follows on from Crazy Sue. The Wizard of Doom is defeated, but his wife, the Mistress of Death , is now causing grief to the people of Ereanor and also stealing Crazy Sue's teddy bear. And so she sets out to save her teddy bear and defeat the wicked witch.

Levels

The game is divided into four levels. Compared to the 10 levels from the first part, however, these are significantly larger and more networked, so that the game is roughly the same length overall. The game starts in the first level when Crazy Sue reaches the castle of the Mistress of Death . The second and third levels take place inside the castle or in the library. In the last level, Crazy Sue goes into the sewers, where the wicked witch is waiting for her at the end.

Noteworthy

  • After defeating the Mistress of Death , a message appears that mentions a certain "Uncle Ice Death", which is a different story. One can therefore speculate that another sequel was planned, with this new relative as the villain. However, such a game never appeared.
  • There was no version of Crazy Sue Goes On on the C64 , but there was another sequel called Crazy Sue Plus , but apart from their predecessor, the two have nothing in common.
