Cremonini is an Italian group of companies in the meat industry based in Castelvetro near Modena .

history

The Cremonini Group emerged from the INALCA slaughterhouse founded in 1963 by Luigi Cremonini . In 1976 the company began producing salt meat. In 1979 she took over MARR SpA , after which she entered sales in the catering industry. In 1982 Cremonini took over the canteen service provider Agape . In 1985, Cremonini acquired six fast food outlets from the Italian state food company SME . Within a few years, 96 fast food restaurants were set up under the Burghy brand , and the chain had grown to become one of the market leaders in the Italian fast food business. In 1986 Cremonini began door-to-door sales and in 1990 began producing spices and flavors. In 1995 the company bought Harry's Bar in Rome.

From 1995, however, the company sold several non-strategically important activities and focused its investments on its core business. At the end of the 1990s, Luigi gained full control of the group's companies, having initially acquired his brother Giuseppe's third share in 1996 and another third from the heirs of co-founder Brandini in 1998. He handed the Burghy restaurants over to McDonald’s and in return agreed that Inalca would supply the US group with hamburgers for five years. In addition, Cremonini sold the edible oil production and the wine and mineral water business.

The group went public on December 11, 1998, and has been listed in the star segment for small and medium-sized companies of Borsa Italiana since July 2, 2001 . In June 2005 the Cremonini Group brought its subsidiary MARR SpA to the Italian stock exchange in the Star sector, but retained a controlling majority of 57.4% of the shares.

In July 2006, Cremonini completed the gradual acquisition of all the shares in Moto SpA, a catering company for motorway service stations, from the Compass Group . At the end of 2007, the Brazilian beef group JBS acquired 50% of INALCA SpA for EUR 225 million . , but ended this participation again in 2011.

In 2015, the board members Luigi and Vincenzo Cremonini were charged with insider trading as part of the Cremonini SpA's 2008 withdrawal from the stock exchange.
