Crispin Joynson-Hicks, 4th Viscount Brentford

Crispin William Joynson-Hicks, 4th Viscount Brentford (* 7. April 1933 ) is a British peer , lawyer and politician of the Conservative Party .

life and career

Joynson-Hicks was born on April 7, 1933 as the son of Lancelot William Joynson-Hicks, 3rd Viscount Brentford (1902-1983) and his wife Phyllis Allfrey († 1979). He attended Eton College . In 1956 he graduated from New College at Oxford University with a Bachelor of Arts .

He served with the 9th Queen's Royal Lancers , where he rose to lieutenant . In 1960 he was admitted to the bar ( solicitor ). In 1961 he graduated from New College with a Master of Arts .

From 1961 to 1995, he was a partner in the law firm Taylor Joynson Garrett . He is a member of the Committee of Assistents for the Worshipful Company of Girdlers . He was a master there from 1983 to 1984 .

He is a member of the Hereditary Peerage Association .

In early 1999 Joynson-Hicks was elected chairman ( chairman ) of the new Executive Board of the Evangelical Alliance selected.

Membership in the House of Lords

After the death of his father in 1983, Joynson-Hicks inherited the title of Viscount Brentford and the then associated seat in the House of Lords . He took his seat for the first time on July 6, 1983. He gave his inaugural address on February 27, 1985.

In the 1980s he talked about tourism, South Africa and Sunday shopping. He spoke up in the 1990s on the subjects of Eastern Europe and the Soviet Union , refugees, Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh. The last time he spoke up was on November 11, 1999. On that day, membership of the House of Lords Act 1999 ended .

For one of the remaining seats he ran unsuccessfully and ended up in 75th place with his party.

It is recorded in the Register of Hereditary Peers , which are available for by-election.

family

Joynson-Hicks married Gillian Evelyn Schluter, daughter of Gerald Edward Schluter , on May 21, 1964 . Together they have a son and three daughters.
