The Harenna shrew ( Crocidura harenna ) is a shrew from the genus of the white-toothed shrew (Crocidura), which occurs only in the forest of Harenna in the Bale Mountains in Ethiopia . A specimen from Illubator found at 1,500 m above sea level represents either this species or a related species. The Harenna shrew is closely related to the Guramba shrew ( Crocidura phaeura) , another endemic species from Ethiopia. The range of this species has an area of about 4 km².

features

The Harenna shrew has soft, dense, gray fur. The back hair is 4.5 mm long. The relatively short black is covered with long bristle hairs. The skull is similar to that of the Niobe shrew ( Crocidura niobe) . The head-torso length is 65 to 76 mm, the tail length 44 to 48 mm, the hind foot length 12.5 to 14 mm, the ear length 8 to 9 mm and the weight about 7 to 11.5 g. The karyotype is 2n = 36, F = 50.

status

Due to the very limited habitat and the destruction of the habitat, it is threatened with extinction.
