Crocus alatavicus is a plant from the genus of crocus ( Crocus ).

features

The tuber has a diameter of 1.2 to 2 centimeters. Their shell is membranous and yellowish brown. The 6 to 15 leaves are 8 to 10 centimeters long and about 2 millimeters wide at flowering time. When the plant is fruiting, it reaches a length of about 20 centimeters and a width of 5 millimeters. The flowers smell pleasant. The perianth is white, the center is yellow. Abaxially it is striped or spotted gray or blue. The perigone is 2.5 to 6 centimeters long. The bracts are almost lanceolate. The outer ones measure approximately 2.5 centimeters × 6 to 8 millimeters, while the inner ones are narrower. The stamens are about 2.5 inches tall. The anthers are orange-yellow. The stylus are thread-shaped and three-lobed at their tip. Their lobes are short and white to deep yellow. The capsule fruits are approximately 1.2 inches long, 8 millimeters wide and ellipsoid. The light to reddish brown seeds are egg-shaped and have white, narrow appendages.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 20.

The flowering period extends from May to June, the fruits ripen from July to August.

Occurrence

Crocus alatavicus is found in Kazakhstan , Kyrgyzstan , Uzbekistan and the northwest of China's Xinjiang . The species grows on mountain slopes and in grassland in waters at altitudes of 1200 to 3000 meters.
