Crug Hywel ( Welsh ), the English name is Table Mountain , ( German "Table Mountain" ) is a 451 m high, flattened hill on the southern edge of the Black Mountains in Wales in the Brecon Beacons National Park . It lies on the southern flank of the 701 m high Pen Cerrig-calch and towers over the south-lying town of Crickhowell , from which it takes its name.
The mound is formed from Old Red Devonian sandstone. The whole rock mass is an outlier of the Pen Cerrig-calch.
The summit of the hill consists of a kidney-shaped Iron Age hill fort with clearly visible earth and stone walls and a ditch in between.
