Cults ( Gaelic : A 'Chùilt ) is a suburb of the Scottish city of Aberdeen . It is located about six kilometers west of the city center on the north bank of the Dee east of Milltimber . In 1991 Cults had a population of 5,265. Cults has been growing very rapidly for several decades and quadrupled its population between 1951 (1361 inhabitants) and 1991. Historically, various mills were operated in cults; today it serves as a commuter settlement for Aberdeen.
In the 19th century Cults got its own station on the Deeside Railway line of the Great North of Scotland Railway , which ran from Aberdeen to Ballater . However, the line was closed in 1966. The A93 runs through Cults and connects the village to the trunk road network. The A90 runs just a few kilometers east.
