Cumulopuntia ticnamarensis is a species of plant in the genus Cumulopuntia fromthe cactus family (Cactaceae). The specific epithet ticnamarensis refers to the occurrence of the species near Ticnamar in the Chilean region of Tarapacá.

Cumulopuntia ticnamarensis forms cushions. The almost spherical, strongly humped shoot sections are up to 4 inches long. The polygonal cusps are sharply demarcated. The large and vertically elongated 35 to 40 areoles are distributed over the entire shoot section and usually have four to eight brownish-gray, strong, upright, straight thorns . Some of the thorns are sometimes designed as bristles.

The sulfur-yellow flowers have a length of 4 centimeters and a diameter of 5 centimeters. The edge of its smooth pericarpel is covered with blackish bristles.

Distribution and systematics

Cumulopuntia ticnamarensis is common in high altitudes in the Chilean region of Tarapacá .

It was first described in 1980 by Friedrich Ritter . A nomenclature synonym is Opuntia ticnamarensis (F.Ritter) DRHunt (1997).
