Life

All of his paternal ancestors were highly musical. His father founded the Bärenstein concert zither club "Elegie" and taught his son zither and harmony. The most famous in the family was the brother of his great-grandfather, ennobled Imperial General Music Director in Moscow. C.-H. Richter learned to play the zither and guitar at an early age and was already playing independently at the age of 13.

In 1920 the trained electrical mechanic performed for the first time with Anton Günther in precipitation and from then on devoted himself to Ore Mountains folk music. From 1928 he was the first to compose his own new Erzgebirge songs for the zither.

In 1930 the first record with Richter's music appeared.

On December 3, 1932, an Ore Mountains Advent celebration from Scheibenberg with Curt Herbert Richter was broadcast for the first time . In the later years other similar programs followed. After the Second World War, from 1946 onwards he organized the Leipzig folk music lesson on the radio. In 1963 he retired from the radio and stage due to illness. He last lived in Bernsbach .
