Manfred Pollmer

Manfred Pollmer (born November 10, 1922 in Geyer ; † November 23, 2000 ) was a dialect poet and local researcher of the Saxon Ore Mountains .

The son of a stocking weaver is the younger brother of the dialect poet Karl Hans Pollmer and, after completing his school and professional training, worked as a freight forwarder in Leipzig from 1939 to 1954 . He was seriously injured while participating in World War II. After returning to his hometown Geyer, he worked as an accountant before becoming a freelance journalist in 1965 and at the same time chairman of the Geyer local group of the German Cultural Association . After the re-establishment of the Erzgebirgszweigverein Geyer in 1990, he took over its management, which he resigned in 1994 for reasons of age. However, he remained its honorary chairman.

Works

In 1956 Manfred Pollmer published articles in the district press for the first time. From 1961 he was active as a dialect speaker in several Ore Mountains groups. He wrote over 200 poems, over 30 song texts and numerous stories, almost all in the Ore Mountains dialect.

Since the early 1960s he has become one of the best-known authors of the twelve times a year magazine Der Heimatfreund für das Erzgebirge , and he also wrote for the Erzgebirge Heimatblätter , which emerged from this in 1978 and of which he was a member of the editorial board.

Honors

On November 10, 2005 a granite block was erected with the following inscription for the two Pollmer brothers: In honor of the local poets Karl-Hans Pollmer and Manfred Pollmer from Geyer Kunstguss Döhler September 2005 .
