Karl Hans Pollmer

Karl Hans Pollmer (born October 12, 1911 in Herold ; † June 2, 1987 in Dresden ) was a pastor, dialect poet and local researcher in the Saxon Ore Mountains .

Life

The son of a stocking knitter is the older brother of the dialect poet Manfred Pollmer . Pollmer moved with his parents to Geyer , where he attended school. Then he went to high school in Annaberg . There, love of home became the mainspring of his life .

He studied theology and philosophy first at the University of Erlangen , then at the University of Leipzig and in 1935 became a pastor of the Evangelical Methodist Church . From 1955 he lived in Zschorlau . He spent the last years of his life in the Saxon state capital Dresden.

The creation of native verses, songs and stories from the Ore Mountains was a matter of the heart for Karl Hans Pollmer, who was connected to the landscape and the people. As a teenager he wrote his own poems and essays for the Geyersche Wochenblatt . The encounter with Helmuth Stapff in 1945 gave his part-time work a significant boost. He also joined the newly founded Kulturbund for the democratic renewal of Germany .

The Erzgebirge singing group Pimpl-Maad was the first to interpret his songs in public. In the 1960s, the Zschorlau nightingales did this . His poems were also widely distributed through folk evenings and several radio broadcasts. In 1950 he published his first poems under the title Mei Hamit , which was followed in 1951 by autumn - winter - Christmas time . Both works, however, only appeared in limited editions. It was not until Helmuth Stapff's book Christmas in the Erzgebirge , which contained several of Pollmer's poems, that some of his songs were widely used in the Erzgebirge and beyond.

In 1953 Pollmer worked on A. Zirkler's book When It's Christmas is with. Between 1955 and 1957 he also participated in the Schneeberg Christmas books .

In 1960, the standard work of Ore Mountains and Vogtland poetry, Voices of the Homeland, contained several works by Karl Hans Pollmer.

Karl Hans Pollmer wrote and published numerous poems, songs, stories and amateur plays in dialect as well as contributions to local history. These include, for example:

In addition to poetry from home, Karl Hans Pollmer also wrote numerous books on Christian topics. These include John Wesely , 1960; Those who seek his face , 1965; Hands of God , Stuttgart: Christliches Verlags-Haus, 1992, 3rd ed.

In addition, he wrote for the daily press and regional home magazines such as Sächsische Heimatblätter and Erzgebirgische Heimatblätter (predecessor: Heimatfreund für das Erzgebirge ) countless articles on local history topics of the Erzgebirge.

Honors

On November 10, 2005 a granite block was erected with the following inscription for the two Pollmer brothers: In honor of the local poets Karl-Hans Pollmer and Manfred Pollmer from Geyer Kunstguss Döhler September 2005 .
