Life

Curt Rint came from a family of wood carvers in Upper Austria. His grandfather was the court carver Johann Rint .

Rint studied at the Vienna University of Technology . Around 1925 he volunteered at the radio program magazine Radiowelt in Vienna and worked on the technical part. In 1928 he went to Berlin and wrote for Funk-Magazin . He founded the monthly magazine Funk-Technik there in 1931 together with Eugen Nesper . After the handover of power to the National Socialists, from 1934 he also worked as editor-in-chief of the magazine Berlin hears and sees , which reached a circulation of over a million copies. He also became the deputy editor-in-chief of the Europa hour published by Scherl .

During the Second World War he was responsible for over twenty specialist journals at the Wehrmacht Presseverlag. After 1945 Rint took over the editor-in-chief of Funk-Technik , which now appeared in the Berlin publishing house for radio, photo and cinema technology , and of Funk + Ton . In 1953 he became a German citizen and now lived with his wife in Raisting am Ammersee . Both were managing directors in southern Germany for Nora-Radio (Heliowatt). From 1960 he built up its range of specialist books as chief editor of the Hüthig publishing house . From 1961 to 1970 he was responsible for the magazine Deutsches Elektrohandwerk and in 1970 he took over the electronics industry . In 1987 Funk-Technik stopped appearing.

In 1949, Rint published the first volume of the manual for high frequency and electrical technicians ("Blauer Rint"). The manual was continuously revised and expanded in 1957 to the "red Rint" as a four-volume lexicon for high-frequency, communications and electrical engineers. The work had multiple editions in some volumes. In the 11th edition in 1969 the work had a length of 6130 pages with 5140 illustrations, 102 authors contributed to this edition. Under his editorship, the manual appeared in a completely new concept from 1978.
