history
Alfred Hüthig (1900–1996) founded Hüthig Verlag in Heidelberg in January 1925 , which published specialist magazines and books for the technology, craft and business sectors. From the 1950s the magazine Elektrowelt appeared with an accompanying book program; this was the cornerstone for the electrical engineering / electronics segment, which is still important today. The range of programs has been continuously expanded.
Since 1999, Hüthig GmbH has been part of the specialist information division of Süddeutscher Verlag , Süddeutscher Verlag Hüthig Fachinformationen GmbH . In 2004 and 2005, the book and loose-leaf business was sold to the sister company publishing group Hüthig Jehle Rehm . Since then, Hüthig GmbH has concentrated on the specialist magazine business.
In the 1970s, the publishing activities in the electrical trade sector were merged with the activities of Pflaum Verlag in the joint venture Hüthig & Pflaum Verlag , based in Munich. In 2012, Hüthig GmbH took over the shares in the joint venture from the joint venture partner Pflaum Verlag. From 2012 to 2013, Hüthig & Pflaum Verlag was a 100 percent subsidiary of Hüthig GmbH. According to the company, a company lease agreement was concluded between the publishers in January 2014, according to which the operations of Hüthig & Pflaum Verlag will be taken over by Hüthig GmbH. In 2014, Hüthig & Pflaum Verlag merged with Hüthig GmbH.
