Curt Sauermilch (born September 26, 1883 in Warsaw , † June 6, 1957 in Holzminden ) was a German painter, teacher and district home administrator.

Life

He was the son of the music director Hermann Sauermilch, who worked at the Deutsches Theater in Warsaw. The family moved to Dresden shortly after the birth. Sour milk grew up there and studied for 12 semesters at the local arts and crafts school . He completed the drawing teacher examination in 1905 and began teaching at the Holzminden building trade school . In 1912 he became a drawing teacher at the community school in Holzminden. He took part in the First World War as a soldier in Russia. Sour milk was appointed district home nurse by the Braunschweig Minister for Public Education in 1936 . After the death of Carl Hampe, he became honorary director of the Holzmindener Heimatmuseum in 1940.

Sour milk had been with Elly, born in 1912. Mouths, married. He died in Holzminden in 1957.

Sauermilch researched the medieval pottery in the Weserbergland, the history of Holzminden Castle and the small town and village folk culture of the Weserbergland. His work has appeared in the Braunschweigische Heimat and in the Tälicher Anzeiger Holzminden .

Honors

In 1955, sour milk was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit. The Curt-Sauermilch-Weg in Holzminden was named after him in 2003.
