Cyberduck is a free FTP client . The product of the company Iterate from Bern was originally developed for macOS , it was released on March 8, 2011 with Release 4.0, a version that runs under Windows .

technology

Cyberduck supports connections via FTP , FTP / TLS , WebDAV and SFTP . Cyberduck also offers the option of connecting to cloud storage providers such as Amazon S3 , Google Cloud Storage and Rackspace Cloud Files . The API of the respective provider is used directly for cloud connections .

The program supports simple uploading and downloading using drag and drop , files and folders can also be synchronized and files can be opened and edited in a text editor . Cyberduck contains a bookmark function and uses the network standard Bonjour and the password manager keychain . Existing bookmarks from other FTP clients, such as FileZilla , can be imported.

If installed, the user is informed about the connection status and the loading progress via Growl .

Command line / CLI

In addition to the graphical user interface , a CLI version duck has been released for macOS , Windows and Linux .

Mountain Duck

In addition to the classic application for graphical interfaces and consoles, a drive integration called Mountain Duck has now also appeared. This maps the corresponding source as a drive in the Mac Finder or Windows File Explorer and allows use and editing directly from there.
