Cymus aurescens ( Syn .: C. obliquus ) is a type of bed bugs from the family of Cymidae .
features
The bugs are 3.7 to 4.3 millimeters long. The differentiation of the species of the genus Cymus is not easy. Cymus aurescens has dark spots on the cubital vein of the wings, which are oblique to the wing edges and point to them. In the similar species Cymus glandicolor , the spots run roughly parallel to the wing edges and point to the base of the corium of the hemielytras .
distribution and habitat
The species is distributed in Europe from the northern edge of the Mediterranean to the south of Scandinavia and further east to Siberia and across Central Asia to China. It is missing in south-west Europe. It is widespread in Central Europe and very common in southern Germany in particular. The species colonizes open to partially shaded habitats in moors and wet meadows or on the edge of waterways, where it is often associated with Cymus glandicolor .
Way of life
The animals usually live on various sour grass plants (Cyperaceae), such as B. Ledges ( Scirpus ) and pond rushes ( Schoenoplectus ). They are often found on forest ledges ( Scirpus sylvaticus ). Rarely, they are also found on rush family (Juncaceae), such as B. Blue-green rush ( Juncus inflexus ). Due to the moisture requirements of their food plants, they are the species of their genus that is most strongly tied to moist habitats in Central Europe.
