Cymus glandicolor is a kind of bugs from the family of Cymidae .
features
The bugs are 3.7 to 5.1 millimeters long. The differentiation of the species of the genus Cymus is not easy. The species can be determined from its pale keel on the scutellum and the dark spots on the cubital vein of the wings that run roughly parallel to the front edges of the forewings, which point to the base of the corium of the hemielytras . In the similar Cymus aurescens , these spots are more oblique to the wing edges and point to them. The splints ( tibia ) are usually pale in color.
distribution and habitat
The species is distributed in Europe from the Mediterranean to Scandinavia and further east to Siberia, China and Japan. It is widespread in Central Europe and occurs in the Alps up to the montane level . It colonizes moist as well as very dry and temperature-favored habitats such as sand dunes.
Way of life
The animals usually live on different sedges ( Carex ). You can find them on sand dunes, for example. B. on sand sedge ( Carex arenaria ), in humid habitats usually on tall sedge species. They are only rarely found on rush plants (Juncaceae) such as rushes ( Juncus ) and grove rushes ( Luzula ). Wintering takes place in the soil litter of forests.
