The La Trinidad desert fish ( Cyprinodon inmemoriam ) (English: Charco Azul Pupfish; Spanish: Cachorrito de la Trinidad) is an extinct freshwater fish species from the genus of the desert fish ( Cyprinodon ). Only one male is known to have been caught on March 17, 1984 in the Ojo la Trinidad spring near Aramberri in the Mexican state of Nuevo León . The species epithet inmemoriam refers to the fact that the species was already extinct when it was described in 1993.

The Ojo la Trinidad spring originally covered an area of 10,000 m². At the time the La Trinidad desert pup was discovered, it was only 1 to 2 m deep and was fed by rain. There was no vegetation and the bottom was muddy. It has dried up since 1985. The water was colorless and the water temperature was 19 ° C.
die out
The habitat of the La Trinidad desert pup is completely destroyed today. Searches for the species since 1984 were unsuccessful.
