Cyriac Günther
Cyriakus Günther (born January 15, 1650 in Goldbach , † October 7, 1704 in Gotha ) was a teacher and hymn poet. After studying in Jena , he became a teacher in Eisfeld and Gotha. He wrote over thirty songs, ten of which were published in Johann Anastasius Freylinghausen's New witty hymn book (Halle, 1714). Among the best known are "Hold in the memory of Jesus Christ" ( EG No. 405), "O glorious day, o happy time when Jesus lives without all sorrow!" as well as the Pentecost song "Holy Spirit, you heavenly teacher, mighty comforter and convert, alas let the shrine of my heart be your eternal dwelling".
