Cyrille Dubois

Cyrille Dubois (* 1985 in Ouistreham ) is a French opera and concert singer ( tenor ).

Life

Cyrille Dubois was born in Ouistreham on the Normandy coast . At the age of six he was already singing in the choir of his hometown, and the following year he joined the children's choir of the Maîtrise de Caen . He made rapid progress as a singer, mastering English, and at the age of 12 he appeared in a production of Benjamin Britten's The Turn of the Screw at the Opéra de Lyon . After changing his voice he temporarily pursued a scientific career, but returned to music and enrolled at the Paris Conservatoire national supérieur d'art dramatique . After studying with Alain Buet, he joined the Paris Opera School , where he sang important roles: Sam Kaplan in Kurt Weill's Street Scene (2010) and Goncalves in Maurice Ravel's one-act play L'heure espagnole (2011).

He then performed in other major theaters, including in 2013 at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées . He played Count Almaviva in Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia . In 2014 he played a leading role in a new production of Jacques Offenbach's Les contes d'Hoffmann at the Opéra de Lyon. In 2015 he performed at the Glyndebourne Festival . For a number of years Dubois has appeared regularly in Mozart operas in various locations, including in 2017 at various locations as Ferrando in Così fan tutte at the Paris Opera. In 2017 he also appeared in Auber's opera Le domino noir at the Liège Opera . He also performed at La Scala in Milan and other first houses.

Dubois performed as a “Duo Contraste” with the pianist Tristan Raës . The couple won prizes at the Lili and Nadia Boulanger Competition and the Lyon Chamber Music Competition and also performed at the Wigmore Hall in London .
