The Czirenberg House

The Czirenberg-Haus (Czirenberg-Freder-Haus) is a baroque town house in Gdansk at Langgasse 29.

history

The house was built around 1620 for Hans Freder. The facade is the work of Abraham van den Blocke . The medallions with the heads of Roman emperors were created earlier (1549) by Peter Ringering.

On the parapet there are three Latin inscriptions in oval fields, in the middle "PRO INVIDIA" (for envy).

The house later became the property of the Calvinist family Czirenberg (Zierenberg, Czierenberg), who immigrated from Hesse .

In Gdańsk's Marienkirche there is an epitaph of the Czirenberg family, a work by Abraham van den Blocke from 1616.

Daniel Czirenberg († 1602) and Johann Czirenberg († 1642) were mayors of Danzig.
