d & b audiotechnik
d & b audiotechnik is a German manufacturer of audio technology , especially PA systems . The sound reinforcement systems are known internationally and are used at events such as concerts , musicals , in theaters , opera houses , conference rooms and stadiums . The company is headquartered in Backnang , northeast of Stuttgart . There are branches in Europe (Spain, Great Britain, Italy and France), America (USA) and Asia (Japan, Singapore). d & b develops and produces its products exclusively in Backnang and has around 500 employees there.
Company history
In 1981 Jürgen Daubert and Rolf Belz founded d & b in Korb (Württemberg) . In a garage they began to construct loudspeakers.
In 1985 the first product line F1 / F2 / B1 came on the market and went on tour with Herbert Grönemeyer.
In 1987 the partnership d & b was converted into a stock corporation.
In 1989, due to a lack of space, the company moved from Korb to Backnang, 25 km away .
In 1997 d & b introduced the E-PAC with integrated digital signal processing (DSP).
Between 1998 and 2000 d & b opened offices in the USA , Japan , France and Spain .
In 2004 d & b presented the cardioid subwoofer array technology (CSA).
In 2008 the premises in Backnang were expanded from 900 to 10,000 square meters.
In 2012, production was expanded with new production lines.
In 2016, d & b was taken over by the investment company Ardian .
Products
The company produces complete sound systems, which essentially consist of loudspeakers and amplifiers . The d & b concept is that loudspeakers and amplifiers are designed and sold together as one system. This should enable the components to be better coordinated with one another. Digital signal processing (DSP) is carried out in the amplifiers in order to adapt the audio signal to the conditions such as loudspeakers and the room. The loudspeakers cannot be operated with amplifiers from other manufacturers.
The product line includes conventional point source speakers, column speakers, line arrays and monitor boxes .
For planning and configuring public address systems, d & b offers the ArrayCalc simulation software .
