Décembre Noir is a Thuringian Death Doom band from Erfurt , which was founded in 2008.
history
The band was founded in 2008 by the drummer Daniel and the guitarist Sebastian Görlach. The line-up was added a little later by the guitarist Marcel Apel, the bassist Mike Schubert and the singer Lars Dotzauer. Work on the first songs followed. Apel had to leave the cast for professional reasons. After almost a year of searching, Martin Ortlepp was found as a replacement. After that, the group continued the songwriting they had begun. This was interrupted again by the departure of the drummer Daniel, who moved back to his old home. Since concerts had already been promised, Kevin Kleinschmidt joined shortly afterwards as a replacement. Concerts followed after four weeks of familiarization. In 2014 the debut album A Discouraged Believer was released by FDA Rekotz , which was followed by the second album Forsaken Earth on the same label in 2016 . Both albums were produced by Alex Dietz and Eike Freese . In 2016 the band could be seen at the Party.San, among other things .
style
Sebastian Schilling from Rock Hard described the music on Forsaken Earth as "indulgent melancho - death ". Sebastian Görlach stated in an interview with Schilling that the band is trying to process the tendency towards emotional music with tragic melodies. But they don't want to neglect the influence of Death Metal. Holger Stratmann had reviewed Forsaken Earth a previous issue and assigned the album to Death Doom. He drew a comparison to the early Paradise Lost . Occasionally, however, the group also increases the speed, which they achieve through the use of double bass , among other things . With finely tuned guitars, gentle melodies would sound, which means that "the death metal vocals can concentrate on the rattling desperate lyrics".
