The house Dörnbergstraße 2 (district Wehlheiden, corridor 1, parcel 1434/160) is a listed cultural monument in the district of Vorderer Westen in Kassel according to § 2 (1) Hessian Monument Protection Act . The monument protection consists of artistic and urban planning reasons.

history

The four-storey house with a flat mansard roof was built around 1909 by the architect and artificial stone manufacturer Wilhelm Gieseke. 1981/82 the building was renovated in 1985 in home ownership split with 10 residential units. Another renovation took place in 1996.

Construction features

Stylistically, the building can be classified between historicism and reform architecture . It is constructed asymmetrically with a three-storey bay window facing the neighboring house on the left and a loggia and a dwelling in the attic. In addition to a simple facade with smooth rough plaster on the two lower floors and on the bay window as well as smooth plaster on the upper floors, there are Wilhelminian-style wrought-iron balcony railings, an Art Nouveau front door, facade stucco on the windows and a vine frieze under the eaves and the loggia parapet.
