history

Dürnzhausen was first mentioned in a document in 757. Around the year 750 the Bishop of Freising received a donation from a man named Thedoricus. This donation included meadows, pastures, watercourses, forests and meadows.

The current place name Dürnzhausen can be traced back to the name Thedoricus. Over the centuries, the spellings for the place varied, from Tioruneshusen (around 900) to Tirentzhausen (around 1500) and numerous other variants to today's village name Dürnzhausen.

In 1971 the municipality, which had existed since 1818, gave up its independence and became part of the municipality of Schweitenkirchen. At the time of the dissolution, the community of Dürnzhausen had around 470 inhabitants. Until then, the municipality also included the villages of Gundelshausen , Hirschhausen , Loipertshausen , Schmiedhausen and Weikenhausen.

Today's Dürnzhausen has around 260 inhabitants.
