DA-CH reference values for nutrient intake

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The DA-CH reference values for nutrient intake are the reference values for the daily intake of energy and nutrients, which are published jointly by the specialist societies of Germany, Austria and Switzerland ( DA-CH ) for the German-speaking area of Europe. The reference values contain recommendations, estimates and guidelines.

The specialist societies concerned are the German Nutrition Society (DGE), the Austrian Nutrition Society (ÖGE) and the Swiss Nutrition Society (SSG / SSN). In Germany, the DA-CH reference values are also referred to as the DGE recommendation . The DA-CH reference values appeared for the first time in 2000 and have been adjusted several times since then.

The tables with the reference values are broken down by age group for children and adults, possibly with different values for women and men as well as for people with special needs, such as pregnant women . According to the level of physical activity , the DGE also differentiates energy supply according to PAL values (PAL: physical activity level , measure for physical activity).

The DA-CH reference values play an important role in communal catering in canteens and other large kitchens , especially in schools, companies and senior citizens' homes.

Other international organizations also issue comparable guidelines, such as the World Health Organization (WHO), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), the Nordic Nutrition Recommendations (NNR) and the Institute of Medicine ( IOM: Recommended Daily Allowance ).
