The DAKO-CZ as is a Czech manufacturer of braking systems for rail vehicles . The company, with its headquarters in Třemošnice , employs around 500 people and is part of the Czechoslovak Group .
history
The company's origins lie in a foundry founded by Jan Josef Zverina in Třemošnice in 1816 . This was later converted into a machine shop and in 1920 produced aluminum cast parts for the railroad for the first time. The first air brakes were manufactured in 1926. After the Second World War, this corporate division gained significantly in importance. This is mainly due to the success of the control valves C and CV1, which were first presented to the Brake Sub-Commission of the International Railway Union in 1954 and developed under the direction of Josef Daněk . The DAKO CV1 and CV1D valves received homologation for international operation in 1956 .
In 1965 construction began on new production facilities outside Třemošnice; today's company headquarters. The company was now called Kovolis Třemošnice - Hedvikov
In 1980 the company was incorporated into the structure of the heavy machinery and weapons manufacturer ZŤS Martin ( Závodoy ťažkého strojárstva ), one of the most important industrial companies in the Czechoslovakia , based in Martin (Slovakia) . This was linked to new orders for the development and manufacture of products in the field of military technology .
After the fall of the Iron Curtain, the company was privatized between 1996 and 2002 and registered as CKD-DAKO, as .
