The vehicle was created from the conversion of an accumulator railcar of the 515 series (515 505). The entire drive unit was removed so that the car had to be moved by another motor vehicle .

construction

Underframe, car body and interior

Both the car body and the underframe are designed as a self-supporting welded construction. The construction was welded together from hollow beams . At the end of the railcar there are normal side buffers and a screw coupling.

The middle doors and six side windows, which are no longer necessary on the de-icing vehicle, have been removed.

The former passenger compartment now accommodates twelve tanks, each with a capacity of 1,500 l. There are control rooms at the ends of the car.

Bogies

Bogies of the Munich-Kassel design from Wegmann were used in the 732 series . In order to be able to de-ice the power rail , eight spray cans were mounted on the bogies. In addition, six spray cans were installed for the track bed and four for the rail heads on the bogies. The compressed air for spraying is taken from four containers suspended below the floor.
