The DB Sicherheit GmbH , formerly Railway Security Company GmbH ( BSG ), is responsible for safety and order in objects and installations and in vehicles of Deutsche Bahn responsible.

Companies

The company employs around 4,000 people (2005: 2,100, from 2006: 3,000). The DB Group says it spends 160 million euros a year on security. The main tasks include security and stewardship services, factory and property protection (for example, company-owned train station buildings, commercial buildings or factories, buses, trains and rail systems), gate and reception services, train escorts and ticket inspection services . It is also active in protecting and safeguarding Deutsche Bahn events or public events with a rail link.

DB Sicherheit maintains around 100 locations, divided into the regional areas center / south-west, north, north-east, south, south-east and west. It operates six regional situation and operations centers (LEZ), which are closely linked to the railway safety center, in which the supra-regional events are processed. These situation and operations centers can be reached around the clock via a central telephone number.

Mobile support groups are set up to respond to the situation. These are specially trained emergency services who are to be deployed specifically in train stations and trains with technical support depending on the respective security situation. After the pilot phase in Berlin, the concept has been implemented in Essen and Munich since 2019 and is also to be implemented in Frankfurt am Main, Hamburg, Stuttgart and Leipzig from February 2020.

In addition, civil action teams are deployed to combat crime-specific crime and, since 2016, body cameras have been deployed nationwide at large train stations and at sporting and major events.

education

The basic requirement is the passed examination in the security trade according to § 34a of the trade regulations . In order to increase the level of training in the company, Deutsche Bahn relied on the three-year apprenticeship as a specialist in safety and security . In addition to the general training plan, the trainees are introduced to the basics of rail operations and local tariffs during their training.

At the beginning of the training, the trainees are prepared for the proficiency test according to § 34a GewO, which is taken shortly afterwards. Afterwards, the trainees should get to know the business areas, with work in security and stewardship having top priority. The trainees are employed as a third man in the first year of their apprenticeship, from the second year they can be employed as a so-called second man like a full-time employee, which is not visible to the traveler. After successfully completing the training, the trainees are Collective agreement in their area taken over for an unlimited period.
