history
Until the early 1980s, a maternal convalescent clinic run by the DRK regional association in North Rhine -Westphalia was housed in the house in Lindenstrasse .
In 1986 the clinic was converted into a rehabilitation clinic for children and adolescents with mental disorders . In 1993 it was accepted into the Rhineland-Palatinate state hospital plan with the mandatory care contract for northern Rhineland-Palatinate . In the 2010 hospital plan, the clinic is listed with 30 beds for inpatient and 10 beds for partial inpatient treatment in the field of child and adolescent psychiatry. In 2001 the DRK was acc. In 1997 the clinic opened the first youth psychiatric institute outpatient clinic in Rhineland-Palatinate. After the renovation work was completed in 1995, inpatient care for young people began. In 2003, after the clinic was expanded, a day clinic was built near the main building.

The DRK specialist clinic has three wards with a total of 30 places. The wards are divided between the sexes according to the patient's age and level of development.

The day-patient treatment in the day clinic offers space for 10 patients. This facility is intended for children and adolescents between 6 and 18 years of age for whom inpatient treatment is not necessary but outpatient therapy is not sufficient. The patients visit the day clinic from Monday to Friday. Specifically prescribed occupational, music and body therapies, psychomotor treatment forms , as well as group and individual therapy are offered. The children are taught in the clinic's internal school or attend one of the local schools in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler during their therapy time.
A referral from the family doctor is necessary for treatment in the youth psychiatric outpatient department .
Treatment priorities
We treat children and young people up to the age of 18. The focus is on the treatment of neurotic disorders ( anxiety disorders , phobias ), psychoses , psychosomatoses , adolescent crises, behavioral disorders , emotional disorders and developmental disorders .
Further treatment focuses on therapies for eating disorders such as anorexia , bulimia , obesity and the processing of trauma, for example after sexual abuse .
