The DSV Posen was a football club from Poznan .

history

The DSV Posen became a member of the Southeast German Football Association (SOFV) in 1909 to represent Poznan. The DSV was the best club in town and made it to the semi-finals of the SOFV playoffs twice, failing both times (1: 2, 1: 3) to Germania Breslau . The DSV Posen was five times Poznan football champion .

During the First World War , football competitions were interrupted in large parts of Germany , including in Poznan. After the war, Poznan fell to Poland . As a result, game operations collapsed and they no longer sent a representative to the playoffs. This made the DSV one of many German sports clubs that dissolved after the respective areas belonged to Poland.

After the outbreak of World War II and the invasion of the Nazis , many of these clubs were re-established as military or police sports clubs. In 1940 the DSV Posen was re-established and again took part in German competitions. However, the club could no longer build on previous successes. With the end of the Second World War in 1945, the association ceased to exist.
