Da-Ice (spelling: Da-iCE) is a five-piece Japanese boy band that officially debuted on YouTube in 2012 .

Career

prehistory

In January 2011, the five Japanese boys Yūdai Ōno, Sōta Hanamura, Taiki Kudō, Iwaoka Tōru and Hayate Wade started their activities as a band called Da-Ice . Finally, they gave their first appearance on April 11th at Shibuya Vuenos and were thus able to establish a greater degree of awareness. To make the band known, the first music video for the song Splash was released on YouTube , on the official Avexnetwork channel of Avex Trax . With the music video, which was described as Exclusive YouTube Tune , they were able to gain attention and the fan base grew quickly. In order to keep the fan base growing, the group appeared on September 22nd and 23rd, 2012 as opening act for the Japanese music group AAA . The first extended play finally followed on December 12th of that year, but could only be purchased through the trading chain HMV in Japan. Despite the limited sale and although there was no musical entry of the band on Oricon , the group made it into the charts. In order to promote the extended play, the Da-Ice Live Tour Phase followed: 0 tour in January 2013. Because of the strong fan base, the second tour followed in May of that year with the title Da-Ice Live Tour Phase: 1 . This was followed by the group's first single I'll Be Back in June and although they were marketed under Avex Trax, their previous two releases have been considered independent releases. The single I'll Be Back reached # 14 on the Oricon charts in the first week of sales and stayed there for three weeks. Due to the increased attention, it was announced during the Da-Ice Live Tour Phase: 1 tour on July 11th at the DiverCity Tokyo concert hall that they would make their debut under a record company in 2014 and break away from independent status.

Since 2014: Official debut

On January 1, 2014, the second and first official single Shout It Out , by Da-Ice, for January 15 of that year, was advertised with a preview on the official YouTube channel of Universal Music Japan . In the first week of sales, the single started at # 4 on the charts and sold more than 15,000 times over three weeks. In March of that year, the third tour followed with the title Da-Ice Live Tour: Phase 2 . The second single was not long in coming either, as it was released in April of that year with the title Toki . Finally, the third single followed, Hush Hush ( ハ ッ シ ュ ハ ッ シ ュ ) and is currently the most successful record of the band. This single started at # 8 on the charts and only stayed there for two weeks, but on the first day of sales at # 3, it had sold 18,168 units. In total, the single then sold almost 24,000 times. On October 15th, the band finally released their debut album Fight Back and the first video release Da-Ice Live Tour: Phase 2 in DVD format.

The single Mō Ichido Dake ( も う 一度 だ け ) was released on January 7, 2015 and ushers in a new era for the band. The next single Billion Dreams followed in April of that year and was released for the first time in different versions. They made it to # 2 on the weekly Oricon chart with Billion Dreams . The single Everybody ( エ ビ バ デ ィ ) was announced for August 12 , which finally debuted at # 3 with 38,100 units sold in the first week. Due to the increasing success it was decided to announce another single with the title Hello for November 4th.
