Dai Vernon
Dai Vernon (actually David Frederick Winfield Verner ; born June 11, 1894 in Ottawa , † August 21, 1992 in Ramona , California ) was an American magician of Canadian origin. He was nicknamed "The Professor" .
Dai Vernon began his career as a card artist in New York in the 1920s . Known tricks were changed and improved by him so that even professional colleagues like Harry Houdini , who claimed to be able to expose every card trick after seeing it three times, were unable to see through the trick technique. That earned him the title "The Man Who Fooled Houdini". The " Magic Castle ", the Academy of Magic Arts in Hollywood , was his artistic home for 30 years. Many other well-known magicians like Michael Ammar , Larry Jennings and Doug Henning were apprentices with him.
