Damaris Kofmehl
Damaris Kofmehl (born August 10, 1970 in Zurich ) is a Swiss author of Christian literature primarily for children and young people .
childhood
At the age of six she was already dictating her stories to her mother, which she had to write down for her because she could not yet write herself. When she learned to write in elementary school, she spent her free time writing adventure stories. With ten years she wrote the story of Momo by Michael Ende as a play to their class. She wrote her first book when she was 15. Conny rips out was then published in 1987 by Schulte and Gerth . The publisher also offered to make a series out of this book - the result was Die Abenteuerklasse , which Günter Schmitz also edited as a radio play series a few years later . It is now out of stock and can be heard online on the Damaris Kofmehl website.
Life
After her training as a primary school teacher, Kofmehl traveled to Costa Rica for a year and a half , where she taught missionary children. She later traveled to Brazil to find material for her new book. The result was Marcio: I want to live , published in 1997 by Brunnen Verlag . The fate of the street children made Kofmehl stay in Brazil longer than initially wanted. She wrote other books such as Christ came to São Paulo , published in 1998 by Brunnen Verlag (and read as an audio book by Ute Heuser-Ludwig in 1999 ), and was involved in aid organizations in São Paulo . She stayed there for a total of ten years before returning to Germany.
Kofmehl has written several books about people who were lost in the quagmire of violence and drugs and who managed to return to a normal life. B. The neo-Nazi , the hooligan or the bank robber .
On a trip to North Carolina (USA) in 2002, Kofmehl met the singer and motivational speaker Demetri Betts , whom she married after three weeks. In 2008 she launched her first book ( Dark City ) with her husband. This was followed by the youth series Jack Ross with 4 volumes. In 2017, Kofmehl moved with her husband from Germany to Switzerland, where he died in May of that year at the age of 44.
