Damir Hršak

Damir Hršak (born August 24, 1969 in Krapina ) is a Croatian metallurgist and politician of the party Hrvatski laburisti - Stranka rada (HL).

Life

Damir Hršak studied metallurgy at the University of Zagreb , where he obtained his doctorate in chemistry in 2001 with a thesis on the production of non-crystalline silicon dioxide by leaching from serpentinite . In addition, he completed a 6-semester course at the Institut za teološku kulturu laika (Institute for theological culture of the laity) of the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Zagreb (roughly comparable to the German course for parish clerks ). Since 2012 he has been a full professor of metallurgy at the University of Zagreb. He is editor-in-chief of the e-journal The holistic approach to environment ( ISSN 1848-0071 ).  

From 1996 to 2000 Damir Hršak was a political columnist for the monthly magazine Hrvatska ljevica (Croatian Left). He is a member of the Hrvatski laburisti - Stranka rada (Croatian Labor Party - Labor Party) party. He ran for this in the European elections in 2013 and 2014 . He is the chairman of the working group for education, science and culture of his party. He is considered to be the first Croatian politician to acknowledge his homosexuality .
