The steam engine in Buckau is a listed steam engine in Magdeburg in Saxony-Anhalt .

It is located at the eastern end of the An der Buckauer Fähre street , west of the Sülzehafen in the Magdeburg district of Buckau . The Elbe runs a little further east .

Construction and history

The type GD steam engine was manufactured in 1911 by R. Wolf AG with the serial number 14600 . It is a single-cylinder superheated steam locomobile standing on supporting feet. Their rated power is 180 hp . Another indication is an output of 80 to 120 hp. It worked at around 180 revolutions per minute and a vapor pressure of 12 atü at a temperature of 300 to 350 degrees Celsius. The cylinder is arranged horizontally and has a diameter of 240 millimeters. It has a double-acting piston with a pressure-relieving piston slide with internal flow. The heating tube boiler with corrugated tube fire socket and plan grate internal firing is designed to be extendable. In the smoke chamber is a spiral tube - superheater . The two flywheels have a diameter of 1.85 meters.

The steam engine was in use at the CW Neumann box factory until 1980 . It was then set up in the Werder district in the immediate vicinity of the Hypar shell . It was later moved to its current location.

The steam engine is listed as a minor monument under registration number 094 76854 in the monument register for Magdeburg . It is listed there at the address of the Technikmuseum Magdeburg Dodendorfer Straße 65 with the information that it is located on the banks of the Elbe or Am Sülzehafen.
