Daniel P. Meuser (born February 10, 1964 in Babylon , New York ) is an American politician ( Republican Party ). Since January 3, 2019, he has been a member of the State of Pennsylvania in the United States House of Representatives . Meuser was Treasury Secretary of Pennsylvania from January 2011 to January 2015 .

Life

Dan Meuser grew up on Long Island and graduated from Babylon High School in 1982 . He studied at the State University of New York Maritime College and later economics at Cornell University , from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts . In 1988 Meuser joined the board of the family-owned company Pride Mobility Products . Due to his political activities, Meuser left the company in August 2008. He is married with three children and lives in Dallas, Pennsylvania .

In September 2007 Dan Meuser ran for the seat of the tenth congressional electoral district of the state of Pennsylvania, in the internal party primary , however, he could not prevail against Chris Hackett. On January 18, 2011, Meuser was appointed Treasury Secretary of Pennsylvania by Governor Tom Corbett . There he remained in office until January 20, 2015. In October 2017, Dan Meuser announced his candidacy for the seat of the ninth congressional electoral district in the House of Representatives. In the primary on May 15, 2018, he prevailed against Scott Uehlinger and George Halcovage. In the subsequent congressional elections on November 6, 2018, Meuser prevailed against the democratic candidate Denny Wolff with 59.7 percent of the vote.
