Brightpoint is a US, formerly listed distributor for wireless communication devices and accessories, such as cell phones . Brightpoint has been a subsidiary of Ingram Micro since July 2012 . The Brightpoint brand was replaced by Ingram Micro Mobility in 2013 .

history

The company Dangaard Telecom had its headquarters in Padborg , Denmark . The chief executive officer was Steen F. Pedersen.

In the 2002/3 financial year, Dangaard Telecom achieved sales of 1.2 billion euros and a pre-tax profit of 16.6 million euros.

Dangaard Telecom was Europe 's largest distributor in the field of mobile communications and telecommunications with a sales volume of over 1.6 billion euros in the 2004/5 financial year and around 1000 employees in 15 countries .

The German subsidiary Dangaard Telecom Germany GmbH, which has existed since 1999, was one of the largest companies in the Trier region with sales of around 380 million euros (2004) and 517 million euros (2006) and 180 employees (2006). The company is based in Trier .

The telecommunications distributor Brightpoint had taken over the majority in its Danish competitor Dangaard Telecom. The transaction was carried out in the form of a share swap. In return, Dangaard received a 37 percent stake in Brightpoint and three positions on the board of directors. The previous Brightpoint CEO Robert J. Laikin became the head of the merged company. The company is based in Plainfield in the US state of Indiana. The European headquarters will remain in Denmark. Dangaard CEO Steen F. Pedersen will lead the European business as President.

According to the company, the new industry heavyweight had 2006 sales of around $ 4.6 billion and an estimated operating profit of $ 106 million. Together, the two TK distributors sold more than 64 million devices in 2006. The transaction was completed in early August 2007. From 2008, both companies appeared under the common name Brightpoint. The Brightpoint logistics center in Germany was still located in Trier. In 2008 Brightpoint Germany employed 186 people in Trier.

In 2011, Brightpoint achieved sales of EUR 5.24 billion and a profit of EUR 48.8 million. It traded with 112.2 million devices.

In October 2012, Brightpoint was acquired by Ingram Micro for $ 840 million. Six of its top executives received $ 30.7 million in severance pay.

The Brightpoint logistics center in Trier employed 170 people in 2012.

In 2013, the Brightpoint brand was renamed Ingram Micro Mobility .

The logistics center in Trier was closed in 2014 and replaced by Ingram Micro's logistics center in Straubing.
